After beating the Dallas Mavericks with relative ease in the first two games of the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics may have been dealt a devastating blow, with veteran forward Kristaps Porzingis suffering an injury in Game 2 which may prove costly to the team’s chances of winning this best-of-seven series.

Even though the Celtics were able to make easy work of the competition in the Eastern Conference during the first three rounds of the postseason, Boston is facing arguably its toughest opponent yet during this playoff run, with Dallas being arguably the most resilient team in the playoffs up to this point.

Porzingis gave the Celtics a considerable boost once he was able to return to the basketball floor in Game 1, where he scored 20 points off the bench, helping the team get the 18-point victory over Dallas, but he’ll be sorely missed if he can’t play in Game 3 or is nowhere near 100% physically.

According to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, Porzinigs is currently listed as questionable to play on Wednesday at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Apparently, Porzingis’ ailment is being considered a rare foot injury, which obviously isn’t something the Celtics want to hear, with the team two wins away from winning an NBA-record 18th championship.

However, the Celtics might be talented enough to be able to win two more games in this series, even without Porzingis helping shoulder some of the scoring load.

It remains to be seen how this injury will impact the series, but it is definitely concerning for Boston, to say the least.
