As the NFL regular season is about to get underway, at least one player is still unhappy with his current contract situation.
That play is none other than Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
Some days, it has felt like everything is fine when Chase shows up to practice dressed in pads.
Other days, he has shown up in street clothes.
Bengals legend Chad Johnson believes Chase should ultimately not take the field until a deal is done.
“If the deal’s not done, I don’t think he touches the field…I love the Bengals organization, but it’s almost insulting. As you expect him to play on a rookie contract that he’s completely outplayed when he’s a top-tier receiver,” Johnson recently said on First TDs Show.

At a minimum, Chase is one of the best receivers in the game.
Still just 24 years of age, the former national champion at LSU has made three consecutive Pro Bowls after recording 80+ receptions for over 1,000 yards in each of those seasons.
He is the No. 1 option on offense in Cincinnati and clearly somebody that all defenses need to worry about.
Based on what he has done in his first few NFL seasons, the contract should have been done at this point in time.
With the Bengals getting set to face the New England Patriots in a couple of days, the jury is still out on whether or not Chase will suit up for the game.
