This has been a very frustrating season for the Los Angeles Chargers, and a big reason why has been injuries.

Earlier this fall in Week 3, wide receiver Mike Williams suffered a torn ACL, prematurely ending his season and leaving the team without one of its main weapons on offense.

In Sunday’s 24-7 loss to the surging Denver Broncos, star quarterback Justin Herbert fractured a finger on his throwing hand, forcing him to undergo surgery and ending his season as well.

Los Angeles could be even more short-handed for their Thursday game versus the Las Vegas Raiders, as wideout Keenan Allen sustained a heel injury on Sunday.

Head coach Brandon Staley, per Bridget Condon, said he doesn’t know if he will be able to play against the Raiders.

When asked about Keenan Allen’s availability for Thursday night Brandon Staley said “I don’t know that yet.”

Allen has been having quite a season, as he has put up 1,243 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns through 13 games.

He ranks fourth in receiving yards and sixth in receiving touchdowns through the end of Week 14.

But that production has largely gone to waste, as the Chargers hold a 5-8 record and are virtually assured of missing the playoffs.

They have had the talent to be a legitimate playoff team and make some noise in the postseason over the last two years, but injuries and other problems have held them back.

Many have been pointing the finger at Staley and calling for him to be fired, but there is no indication at the moment that his job is in real jeopardy.

Chargers fans are hoping that Jim Harbaugh, the University of Michigan head coach who did a very good job with the San Francisco 49ers a decade ago, will want to return to the NFL and come to their team.
