The Detroit Pistons have managed to assemble an exciting young core ahead of the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Led by Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey, the Pistons have an electric young guard tandem that the franchise can comfortably build around.

Detroit is a team on the rise in the Eastern Conference, though there are fans who still reminisce on the 1980s squads that were hated around the NBA.

The “Bad Boy Pistons” featured Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, and Bill Laimbeer, and while they had the talent to compete with anyone they also played an incredibly physical brand of basketball.

Those players and the rest of the roster made sure to make opposing players uncomfortable and did their best to intimidate anyone who tried to get into the paint.

When discussing those Pistons squads, Charles Barkley couldn’t help but wonder what they would do to someone like Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry via The Bill Simmons Podcast.

The NBA of old was much more lenient when it came to allowing contact and Barkley notes that the “Bad Boy Pistons” would’ve been just as rough with someone like Curry.

While it might sound extreme for Barkley to say the Pistons would break Curry, the Warriors sharpshooter would probably concede that he hasn’t had to deal with that much physicality on the court since entering the league.

For fans who love the old-school style of basketball, imagining Curry trying to survive against a team like the Pistons is a fun thought and it’ll always just remain hypothetical.
