The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers both entered the season with championship aspirations, one more than the other.

The Suns were expected to be one of the teams to beat, whereas the Lakers were adding more depth to a team fresh off a trip to the Western Conference Finals.

Fast forward to today, and they won a combined one game in the playoffs this season.

That’s why plenty of fans and media analysts blamed Darvin Ham and Frank Vogel for the team’s shortcomings, and while they have plenty of responsibility to some extent, they’re not the only ones to blame.

With that in mind, Charles Barkley took some time during his latest appearance on NBA on TNT to call out the members of the media who want the players to like them, arguing that’s the reason why they go after the coaches instead of doing their jobs.

He also said that both teams ‘sucked’ because of the players.

Once again, both things could be true to some degree.

In Frank Vogel’s case, he was stuck with an often-injured star who couldn’t play off the ball like Bradley Beal, and they refused to give him a point guard.

Even so, he got that team in the top half of the league defensively, which is remarkable, considering their roster.

As for Darvin Ham, he deserves plenty of blame for the team’s shortcomings, as he was either unwilling or unable to make timely adjustments, and he didn’t seem to have the respect of the players.
