With about 20 regular-season games left for the majority of the teams in the NBA before the playoffs get underway next month, the Boston Celtics are the best all-around squad on paper, with Jayson Tatum and company currently sporting the best record in the NBA at 48-13 ahead of tonight’s clash with the Denver Nuggets.
That said, Boston is in prime position to make a deep run in the NBA playoffs once again, but this time around, the pressure will be on another level as they will be expected to at least get to the NBA Finals as the top team in the Eastern Conference.
Even though there are some talented teams in the East, like the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, and the always-dangerous Miami Heat, the Celtics are the cream of the crop and should go the distance with the team stacked and playing great basketball on both ends of the floor.
With tonight’s game against the defending NBA champion Nuggets being a potential NBA Finals preview, Charles Barkley of NBA on TNT admits that he’d be shocked if the Celtics didn’t win it all this year.
“If [the Celtics] don’t win a championship this year, it would be a total gag job because they’ve got everything. … I would be shocked if the Celtics don’t win,” Barkley said.

Shocked is a strong word because there are some incredibly talented teams in the Western Conference that could get to the Finals and give the Celtics a run for their money.
The Nuggets are arguably the toughest challenge for the Celtics right now, but the Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers, and Phoenix Suns pose a threat moving forward as well.
