The New York Knicks have been putting on a show during the 2024 NBA playoffs and now find themselves in the second round after beating the Philadelphia 76ers in six games.
New York overcame several injuries to players like Mitchell Robinson and Bojan Bogdanovic in the series thanks to Jalen Brunson, who had by far his best playoff series in his career.
The star point guard played nearly 44 minutes a game and averaged 35.5 points, nine assists, and 4.5 rebounds.
The load that Brunson has had to shoulder has been enormous, but the All-Star looks built for the moment and will be counted on in the next round when they take on the Indiana Pacers.
The Knicks and their fans have been waiting for someone like Brunson to come along and end their championship drought and he’s done just about everything he can on the floor to help make that dream a reality.
Former New York players like Charles Oakley have been impressed with Brunson’s performances and he didn’t hold back his praise, via SiriusXM NBA Radio.
“Somebody gonna say – what about Patrick and Carmelo? Ok, they didn’t do this,” Oakley said.

Comparing Brunson to Knicks legends like Patrick Ewing and Carmelo Anthony seems like a controversial statement, but it’s hard to argue with Oakley when looking at the effect that the guard’s had on the city.
Brunson’s rise to superstardom has been one of the most fun stories in the league and it’ll be exciting to see just how far he can take the iconic franchise in this year’s postseason.
