Chase Claypool’s NFL career has seen a few twists and turns.

During his rookie year with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Claypool was nicknamed “Mapletron,” given his size and Canadian heritage.

After just two years with the Steelers, Claypool was traded to the Chicago Bears during the 2022 season in exchange for a second-round pick.

In seven games with the Bears last season, Claypool recorded 14 receptions, totaling 140 yards and zero touchdowns.

In a recent press conference, Claypool mentioned that the 2023 season is the “biggest year” of his life, per Mike Berman of NBC.

Claypool also said, “If anyone thinks my work ethic isn’t matching that, they’re mistaken.”

Many around the league are projecting an improved season from the Bears, and Claypool is slated to be a big part of that.

Justin Fields began to take strides as a passer at the end of last season, and with any luck, he’ll continue those improvements into 2023.

Besides Claypool, the Bears’ receiving room is led by newly acquired D.J. Moore and Darnell Mooney.

Mooney is coming off an injury, and his status for the season will depend on how he’s bounced back.

Claypool should significantly be in line for an increased workload if the Bears increase their passing volume.

In his mind, 2023 is an all-or-nothing season, as he’ll likely be in for a nice payday if he can put everything together.

The Bears have only been to the playoffs twice in the past ten years.

Will an improved Fields and a more significant impact from Claypool be enough to propel them back to the postseason?
