Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder will get to participate in his first regular-season NBA game this week and fans are beyond ready to see what he can do.
He was supposed to be a big deal last year but an injury ended the season before it even started.
Holmgren is entering a Thunder team that is already spoken of as one of the best young squads in the league and he talked about why with SLAM.
“I’d say what separates this team from most NBA teams is most NBA teams got a bunch of 30-year-olds…but here, we’re damn near all still kids. So, we all cool,” Holmgren said.
The juice is temporary, but the sauce is forever…
Beyond the highlights of Gilgeous-Alexander’s scoring outbursts, Williams’ dunks, Giddey’s passes, Dort’s steals and Holmgren’s blocks, a true foundation has been built.

Although Holmgren’s comment will surely make all 30-year-old NBA fans instinctively grimace, he has a point.
This is a very young team and they are going to use that in their favor.
Holmgren is 21 years old, while Lu Dort is 24, and Josh Giddey is just 21.
Meanwhile, the team’s leader, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, is only 25.
The oldest player on the team is Davis Bertans, who is a whopping 30 years old.
With all that youth, the Thunder could be one of the most energetic and feisty teams in the league.
They showed plenty of flashes of that last year, even without Holmgren.
Of course, the youth also means inexperience, especially in the postseason.
Therefore, the Thunder definitely have a lot working for them because of their age but they also have some things working against them too.
For the last few years, fans have been waiting for a breakout season from the Thunder.
With Holmgren back and youthful energy uniting them, 2023-24 could be OKC’s big year.
