The Oklahoma City Thunder have slowly but surely resurrected their roster after losing players like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and Paul George.

As of now, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is undoubtedly the team’s cornerstone player, but OKC has multiple potential star players on the roster.

The No. 2 overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, Chet Holmgren, will make a return to the team for the 2023-24 season, and he’s expected to have an immediate impact in the league.

OKC forward Josh Giddey shared his excitement over Holmgren’s return to the roster via SiriusXM NBA Radio on Twitter.

“I’m really happy for [Chet Holmgren] to be back. I think he changes the dynamic of our team,” Giddey said.

What will the addition of Chet Holmgren mean for the Thunder?

Giddey is part of the Thunder’s young core alongside Holmgren.

As for Holmgreen, he should have made his debut for the team last season.

Unfortunately, due to a foot injury, Holmgren was ruled out for the entire 2022-23 campaign.

Now, Holmgren is reportedly completely healthy and ready to play his rookie season in the NBA.

While the expectations are at an all-time high for Holmgren, can he truly live up to them?

Many believe that Holmgren has similar potential as San Antonio Spurs protege and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama.

One thing that the two stars have in common is their lanky figure.

Coming back to Holmgren’s potential, the 7’0″ is expected to be the X-factor that pushes the Thunder to a playoff seed in the upcoming season.

Holmgren averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game during his college career.

Can Holmgren put up similar numbers during his rookie season in the NBA? Only time will tell.
