The Oklahoma City Thunder have had its fair share of elite NBA players don their team uniforms.

The likes of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony have all played for the Thunder at some point in their respective careers.

But those days are over, and now the Thunder have arguably handed the keys to the franchise to the dynamic duo of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren.

Speaking of Holmgren, the former second overall pick has created history in his rookie season, as revealed via Hoop Central on Twitter.

As mentioned in the above-attached tweet, Holmgren has become the first rookie in franchise history to have multiple 30+ point games during the first month of his NBA career.

Considering Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden played their rookie years for the Thunder, it’s certainly a great achievement by Holmgren.

In fact, the rookie is putting up impressive numbers in his first NBA season.

To be precise, Holmgren is currently averaging 18.1 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for the Thunder.

Thanks to a sensational rookie season so far, Holmgren has helped the Thunder attain an 11-5 record.

As a result, the Thunder are currently the second seed in the Western Conference.

Despite competing with Victor Wemabanyama for the 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year award, Holmgren hasn’t let the pressure get to him.
