The Oklahoma City Thunder were already one of the best teams in the NBA last year but they actually got better in the offseason.

The addition of Isaiah Hartenstein in the summer was perhaps their biggest move and Chet Holmgren thinks it’ll greatly help them in 2024-25.

Sitting down on the “Podcast P” show, Holmgren said that Isaiah Hartenstein “opens up more possibilities” for himself and the team.

This signing will allow him to be more versatile and help the Thunder in some new and impressive ways.

Hartenstein left the New York Knicks for the Thunder and New York fans will miss him.

Last season, he averaged 7.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

Beacuse of their long list of injuries, the Knicks needed Hartenstein more often and he delivered, especially in the playoffs when he was good for an average of 8.5 points and 7.8 rebounds.

Hartenstein was celebrated as one of the best big men in the league when the offseason started and the Knicks wished to keep him.

Unfortunately for them, they lost him to the Thunder.

The Thunder also added Alex Caruso, formerly of the Chicago Bulls.

These two will add a ton to Oklahoma City’s defense and make them much scarier.

Hartenstein will permit Holmgren to fluctuate between being a power forward and a center.

He admitted that the team’s play style was limited because of how much he had to do at all times.

Now some of the roles he carried can be given to Hartenstein in the new season, opening him up for so much more.

This could end up being key for the Thunder in the months ahead.
