The Kansas City Chiefs are about to embark on their quest for their third consecutive Super Bowl title.

If they are going to make NFL history, they will need to be fully healthy at every position.

However, their sometimes troublesome offensive line is currently facing a couple of injuries.

Starting right tackle Jawaan Taylor is dealing with a shoulder injury and backup Wanya Morris is dealing with a bone bruise.

According to insider Charles Goldman, that means former third-round pick Lucas Niang is getting a chance to take over at the position.

“Lucas Niang is the next man up and has a major opportunity ahead of him,” Goldman posted on social media.

#Chiefs HC Andy Reid already ruled out Jawaan Taylor with a shoulder injury. Wanya Morris was still out of practice as of Thursday with a bone bruise. Lucas Niang is the next man up and has a major opportunity ahead of him. https://t.co/UKMAdvtQuf

The No. 96 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Niang has another chance to show the team he is good enough to remain on the roster.

He will likely be starting at right tackle in the Chiefs’ upcoming preseason game against the Detroit Lions.

Championship teams tend to have a next-man-up mentality in case injuries do take place.

Over Kansas City’s recent run of dominance, the Chiefs have had plenty of individuals step up in big moments.

Players such as starting running back Isiah Pacheco, wide receiver Justin Watson and others have played key roles on offense down the stretch when needed.

Protecting quarterback Patrick Mahomes is paramount to the team’s success, and if Niang can step up and prove his value to head coach Andy Reid, the Chiefs might be more dangerous in the trenches than the rest of the league might think.
