Sometimes, you don’t know what you have until you lose it, and that even applies to NFL teams.

The Kansas City Chiefs found that out the hard way last season.

For the first time in his career, WR Mecole Hardman took his talents somewhere else, signing with the New York Jets as a free agent.

Then, midway through the season and after struggling to get touches with his new team, the Chiefs traded for him to get a familiar face and a reliable pair of hands for Patrick Mahomes.

Hardman ended up playing a big part in the final stretch of the campaign, including a reception for the game-winning touchdown to beat the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.

With that in mind, his hometown of Bowman, Georgia, has decided to pay tribute to Hardman, which is why they set up a monument that greets visitors by honoring the three-time Super Bowl champion (Via Starcade Media).

Hardman was born and raised in Bowman before committing to play for the University of Georgia, so he stayed close to home until he became a professional.

And while he may not have the flashiest stats and isn’t the most well-known wide receiver in the game, his role and impact on the Chiefs has been more than remarkable.

It takes a lot to put together a winning team, and it’s the sum of all the pieces that makes them special.

Now, he’ll look to help the Chiefs make history by becoming the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row.
