After an impressive 2022 campaign in which Patrick Mahomes and company dominated the competition and won a second Super Bowl title under legendary head coach Andy Reid, the Kansas City Chiefs were thought to come into the 2023 campaign just as strong if not better than last season.

Unfortunately for the defending Super Bowl champions, Mahomes and his squad weren’t the same football team, as the roster did not have great wide receivers, nor could it score in the same way it has over the last half-decade or so.

Even though the Chiefs did win the AFC West division title once again and did come out on top in 11 of their 17 games, Kansas City wasn’t the same kind of team coming into the NFL playoffs, and a first-round exit was not out of the question.

Fortunately for the Chiefs, the team made easy work of the Miami Dolphins in the first round and then got the best of Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the second round, resulting in the team making NFL history.

According to PFF KC Chiefs, the Chiefs are the first team in the history of the league to win at least two playoff games in five straight seasons.

Even though this has been considered somewhat of a down season for the Chiefs, the team is still doing historic things, which makes this all that more impressive, especially considering the sustainability of this franchise with Mahomes leading the way.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Chiefs can continue to keep up their winning ways in the postseason and potentially win another Super Bowl.
