The Kansas City Chiefs could enter the 2023 season without one of their top wide receivers.
According to Chiefs reporter Adam Teicher, Kadarius Toney recently suffered a knee injury.
As Teicher, via Dov Kleiman, has reported, this injury kept Toney out of training camp on Monday, as he wasn’t seen on the field with the rest of the team.

This is potentially devastating news for the Chiefs offense, given their lack of superstar talent at the position.
Travis Kelce is the team’s primary receiving target, given the success he continues to find.
Even though Kelce has been a brilliant contributor to the team, the Chiefs traded for Toney during the 2022 season.
In seven games for the Chiefs, Toney had 14 receptions, 171 yards, and two touchdowns.
Toney was also in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory, catching a fourth-quarter touchdown.
If Toney’s injury is serious, this could bring the Chiefs back to the drawing board, seeking other receivers to step up to the plate.
Who could shine in Toney’s absence?
The Chiefs used a second-round pick on Rashee Rice this year, a highly-touted prospect out of SMU.
With Toney potentially slated to miss some games, this could be an opportunity for Rice to get some touches in his rookie campaign.
Also on the depth chart are Skyy Moore and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and both could benefit from more significant opportunities.
Moore also caught a touchdown in the Super Bowl, a potential indication that the Chiefs trust him in big moments.
Will the Chiefs be able to return to the Super Bowl, knowing they have some injuries to overcome?
