This weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs will be taking on the Miami Dolphins in a highly anticipated matchup that could end up be a preview of this season’s AFC Championship.
But this contest won’t be taking place in front of the Chiefs’ rowdy fanbase or in the sweltering Miami heat.
Instead, the Chiefs and Dolphins have traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to play their Week 9 game inside Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany.
While it seems like an exciting opportunity for both franchises to help spread the popularity of the NFL to Germany, not everyone is thrilled about making the long trip, including Kansas City wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (via Dov Kleiman on Twitter).
“It sucks, I’ve got to find a babysitter for my dogs for a couple days. I know we’ve got a lot of fans over in Germany, so I’m grateful that we get to give them that opportunity. But it does suck for the players to have to be away from their families, or [I’ve] got to find a babysitter for my dogs for a couple days,” the receiver said.

Did Valdes-Scantling just recently find out about the Chiefs playing a game in Germany?
Most likely not, but the way he spoke about having to find someone to watch his dogs makes it seem, at the very least, like he waited until the last minute to get everything settled at his home in the United States before traveling to Germany this week.
After hauling in 42 passes in 2022, Valdes-Scantling only has 12 catches in eight games for Kansas City this season, so he might want to focus a little more on improving his performance before complaining about having to find someone to watch his dogs while he gets the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to Germany.
Valdes-Scantling and the Chiefs don’t have an easy matchup on Sunday, as they will attempt to improve their record to 7-2 by getting a win over a 6-2 Dolphins team and the NFL’s highest-scoring offense.
