Bronny James’ shooting woes have been the hot topic at NBA Summer League, as the Los Angeles Lakers’ second-round pick continues to struggle after going 1-for-5 from the field in the team’s most recent loss to the Boston Celtics.

Chris Broussard of FOX Sports had a lot to say regarding James in a recent conversation with Colin Cowherd, and he shared a strong belief about what the future holds.

Broussard appeared on “The Herd” and wondered aloud why the Lakers aren’t having James bring the ball up the floor.

“They’re not even attempting to have him learn point guard,” Broussard said.

He added that James’ goal should be finding his niche and adding a 3-point shot.

The No. 55 overall pick is 0-for-15 from 3-point range in four Summer League games and shot two airballs against the Celtics. That is surprising given what was said about him during the NBA Draft Combine, when he reportedly was one of the best shooters in the open gym session of the workouts.

It could just be a slump, or it’s possible James hasn’t adjusted to the speed of the game and his shot hasn’t translated from empty gyms to an NBA court.

Regardless, you never want to read too deeply into Summer League results, but it’s uncommon for a player to perform this poorly and then turn it on when the NBA regular season starts.

It’s a good sign that James reportedly is open to going to the G League, because it looks like he’s going to need it.
