No team in the NFL has gotten more attention and hype during the offseason than the new-look New York Jets, with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers leading the way for the storied franchise.
Last season, the Jets were only really missing a star quarterback to put it all together offensively, as Zach Wilson and Mike White proved they couldn’t get the job done despite having some talented weapons to work with.
With Rodgers now in the mix, there’s a lot of optimism in New York that the Jets could finally be title contenders in the AFC once again, with an intimidating offense and lockdown defense led by Sauce Gardner.
Another indication of how good this team may be ahead of the 2023 NFL season is the sacrifice Rodgers made this week by agreeing to a $35 million pay cut, which is unheard of from a quarterback and player of his caliber.
Chris Broussard of Fox Sports believes this is a sign of how much Rodgers is dedicated to this team and to winning a championship in New York, via First Things First.

One reason that Rodgers may have made this move is the fact that the team is bringing in veteran running back Dalvin Cook for a visit, and New York may want the funds available in order to sign him to the deal that he wants, as he has refused others around the league.
Rodgers is going with the smart move here to give up the money, which he already has plenty of, in order to make the team around him better and to improve the franchise’s chances of winning this season and potentially the next.
