The stage is set for the conference finals in the NBA.

The Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers will face off in the East, and the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves will play each other in the West.

This is an interesting grouping of teams, given how small most of these markets are, but they have all reached this point for a reason.

While each team is gunning for an NBA Finals win, some teams and players have more on the line than others.

Chris Broussard highlighted this in a recent segment of “First Things First,” speaking candidly about Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.

“Luka hasn’t proven anything yet. For him to really prove something to me, this year, he has to win the finals,” Broussard said.

Doncic has been one of the best players in the league over the past several seasons.

He has received MVP votes, a sign that he is well-respected by his peers and the people who vote for league MVP.

However, in Broussard’s eyes, Doncic needs to prove himself at the biggest stage for his regular season play to have any merit.

Yes, it is great that he racks up triple-doubles throughout the year and that he’s a great personality for the Mavericks organization, but this isn’t enough for Broussard.

To him, Doncic needs to win at the highest level.

It will be interesting to see how the Mavericks will fare against the Minnesota Timberwolves and if they’ll be able to beat this red-hot team with elite defense.
