The Los Angeles Lakers are now officially playoff bound after an overtime thriller against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday in which LeBron James and company were able to come out on top.

Although the game was incredibly sloppy and could have easily gone the other way with Minnesota advancing, the Lakers were able to rally at the end of regulation and during the overtime period.

Perhaps the game’s biggest play came during the fourth quarter’s final moments, where Dennis Schroder hit what was thought to be a game-winning three-pointer off an exceptional pass from James.

James, as per usual, received some criticism for not taking the ball to the basket and deferring to Schroder, but it was clearly the right play, which Chris Broussard of Fox Sports believes is a criticism the four-time NBA champion gets far too often.

“LeBron’s pass was perfect bc Schröder was wide open. The criticism of LeBron not taking some of these last shots has always been ridiculous. Michael Jordan did the same thing at times.” — @Chris_Broussard pic.twitter.com/YZLlfx7knB

When directly compared to arguably the greatest player of all time in Michael Jordan, James will always get criticized and mocked for things he does on the basketball court that Jordan didn’t necessarily do.

That will never change and likely worsen in the coming years if James nears Jordan’s ring count of six.

However, James is a pass-first guy like Lakers legend Magic Johnson, and there’s nothing wrong with that as long as he’s winning.

Unfortunately, Anthony Davis fouled Mike Conley Jr. beyond the three-point line on the next play, which resulted in three made free throws and the game being forced into overtime.

If anyone should be criticized for a late-game decision in this game, it’s Davis, not James.
