Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL.
Even if a player was a highly touted draft pick, or if their team gave them a significant contract, performance is everything.
If a player isn’t living up to what the organization expects of them, they can easily ride the bench, no matter the team’s investment in them.
Take the New York Giants, for instance.
They were excited to see Daniel Jones bring them to the playoffs and win a postseason game and were excited to see what his future held with the team.
However, after some injury and performance concerns surfaced during the 2023 season, rumors started flowing about the Giants looking elsewhere at quarterback.
Many reports have indicated that the Giants wanted to trade up for Jayden Daniels in the 2024 NFL Draft, an indication that the team wasn’t all-in on Jones.
While they were unable to draft Daniels, Jones could still feel frustrated with these reports, knowing that his job might be on the line.
Chris Broussard discussed this on “First Things First,” indicating that 2024 is a prove it year for Jones.
“Daniel Jones is fighting for his job as a starting QB- for the Giants and the entire NFL,” Broussard said.

Not only will Jones have to fight to keep his starting role with the Giants, but he’ll need to show the other teams in the league that he can be a starter in this league.
If he has another lackluster year, not only could he lose his spot on the Giants, but he could tarnish his future chances of playing for another team.
