The Boston Celtics entered the playoffs as the favorite to win the NBA Finals.
Despite the odds seemingly being in their favor, some fans and analysts were unsure if they could keep up their momentum throughout the playoffs.
After all, Kristaps Porzingis got hurt early in the playoffs, a key cog to this team’s success during the regular season.
They have found a way to win without him, a sign that the Celtics are a well-built roster.
Chris Broussard and Nick Wright recently discussed the Celtics on “First Things First,” acknowledging their initial predictions about this team were incorrect.
“Give Joe Mazzulla a raise,” Broussard proclaimed.

Broussard and Nick Wright both admitted that they were wrong about Mazzulla and that they undervalued the Celtics coming into the playoffs.
Yes, the Celtics had the best record in the NBA, but many analysts had concerns about their longevity down the stretch.
They have proven all of their doubters incorrect, and are now just one win away from the franchise’s 18th NBA title.
Mazzulla was an assistant with the Celtics for a few years before becoming the team’s interim and was later named the head coach.
He has rallied this team together, allowing the team’s biggest stars to shine and have their moment, while also playing an efficient brand of basketball.
Under Mazzulla, the Celtics look nearly unstoppable with their current roster construction.
It will be interesting to see what this team looks like in the 2024-2025 season, and if Mazzulla will be able to replicate this high level of success.
For now, he’s certainly enjoying the ride and is looking forward to his first championship as a head coach.
