Last week, new Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton made some controversial comments that rubbed many people the wrong way, namely superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets.

Payton came out publicly and bashed former Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett and his coaching staff for their poor performance last year in the Mile High City.

The one-time Super Bowl champion head coach also came to the defense of superstar quarterback Russell Wilson, who looked like he took a few steps back last season with his new team and might not be the dominant quarterback of old.

With Hackett now the offensive coordinator of the Jets and a close friend of Rodgers due to their time together in Green Bay, the Jets new leader under center fired back at Payton for his comments as he felt they were unnecessary.

Chris Broussard of Fox Sports feels like Payton may have motivated Rodgers that much more ahead of the 2023 season and that the Broncos could regret it, with New York having some bulletin board material via First Things First.

“Sean Payton has now added to the chip that was already on Aaron Rodgers’ shoulder, so he may make the Jets ever better.”

With Rodgers being at peace and arguably happier than we’ve ever seen him in New York, this is the first time the veteran quarterback has been clearly angry about something and seemingly ready to do something about it when the time comes.

The Jets and Broncos will go head-to-head during the 2023 NFL season, with the matchup taking place on October 8th in Denver.

It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Rodgers and company have already circled that date with the intention of putting up a lot of points against the Broncos and embarrassing Payton in Denver.
