For a Super Bowl-winning team, the Kansas City Chiefs have had a tumultuous offseason.

They’ve lost several players to free agency, including Orlando Brown Jr., Juan Thornhill, Andrew Wylie, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

The organization has also been at odds with Chris Jones, who still has not been seen during training camp.

Jones’ timeline for returning to the team hasn’t been announced by the organization, but he has recently expressed his feelings in a Twitter response.

In a tweet shared by Dov Kleiman, Jones indicated that he might not return to the field until Week 8.

Update: #Chiefs DT Chris Jones apparently claims he’ll sit out until Week 8 of the 2023 season.

This has led many Chiefs fans to wonder what the organization is doing and why it is taking them so long to get a deal done.

Jones was one of the team’s top defenders during the 2022 season, a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year.

Thus far, the Chiefs haven’t been able to reach an agreement with him, leading to a holdout.

With less than three weeks to go until the regular season begins, both sides are running out of time.

Many pundits have predicted the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl again this year or at least make it to the AFC Championship.

Jones was a massive part of their title run in 2022, and his presence would be greatly missed should his comments come to fruition.

Before Week 8, the Chiefs have a tough schedule which includes the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, and Los Angeles Chargers.

Can they get a deal done with Jones before the proverbial clock strikes midnight?
