The Kansas City Chiefs and Chris Jones are in a tough situation right now.

The superstar DT has racked up over $1 million in fines for holding out of training camp, and it doesn’t seem like he’s looking forward to suiting up any time soon.

However, there’s still a beacon of hope for the Chiefs and their fans.

Following yet another cryptic tweet, a fan urged Jones to shed more light on his situation, with Jones stating that he’s still got one more year left in his contract, hinting at potentially playing next season.

Im under contract for one more year! I’m no fortune teller. Let’s enjoy this year

Notably, GM Brett Veach and HC Andy Reid have repeatedly talked about their desire to do right by their Pro Bowler.

The 29-year-old is coming off the best season of his career, making the first-team All-Pro and being one of the leading candidates to take home the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award after posting 29 quarterback hits, 17 tackles for loss, and 15.5 sacks.

The Chiefs have reportedly made Jones several major offers but reports state that they’re not close on terms as of now.

He’s been an instrumental part of the Chiefs’ defense, and the team needs to do whatever it takes to get him locked up for the future.

Otherwise, they might need to explore other options, including trading him in the final year of his contract before he walks away for free.

At this point, though, it just seems like Jones doesn’t want to play in Kansas City, but we’ll have to wait and see how this situation unfolds.
