The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to begin the season without Chris Jones.

Jones, a Defensive Player of the Year candidate in 2022, has held out throughout training camp.

He is seeking a contract extension, and even after reports of the Chiefs giving him an offer, he remains unhappy.

While it has appeared throughout the offseason that Jones wants to remain in Kansas City, recent activity could indicate otherwise.

According to Jones’ Twitter page via fan Josh Buckhalter, Jones has recently liked a post regarding a trade proposal.

This post discusses a potential trade with the Dallas Cowboys, which could give the Chiefs a first-round pick and Osa Odighizuwa.

A like on a social media page is far from concrete evidence, but it has made Chiefs fans take a second look.

Many have referred to Jones as the heart and soul of this defense, a major reason they took home the Lombardi last year.

The Chiefs have publically maintained that they would like to keep him on the roster.

Will that change if the Cowboys make a compelling offer for Jones?

If he is truly unhappy, as recently evidenced by other NFL stars, Jones could be emotionally unavailable to his Chiefs teammates.

Jones might feel disrespected by the Chiefs’ organization, especially given they haven’t extended him.

Of course, this could all be a play by Jones, hoping he causes the Chiefs to act accordingly.

There are a lot of rumors and speculation currently tied to Jones’ situation with the team.

Fans will have to wait and see what comes of this situation that seems to have more information by the day.
