The Golden State Warriors couldn’t get the job done in their season opener.
They went back and forth with the Phoenix Suns, alternating runs and leading by as many as eight points after trailing by 22.
Steve Kerr’s team even had a chance to close the Suns out, but they were outscored 28-18 in the fourth quarter en route to a four-point loss.
The most notorious issue was the poor shooting efficiency, as they shot 35% from the floor (36 for 101), 23% from beyond the arc (10 for 43), and 78% from the charity stripe (22 of 28).
Nonetheless, when asked about their shooting woes, Chris Paul claimed that he’s not too worried about that issue, reminding everyone of the time he was a part of a team that missed 27 straight three-pointers, adding that he doesn’t think that’ll happen often in the Bay area with the kind of shooters they have (via 95.7 The Game).

While the Houston Rockets he talks about also had some solid shooters, it is unlikely that the Warriors will go through a similar drought any time soon.
Notably, Jonathan Kuminga (50%), Moses Moody (66%), and Kevon Looney (50%) were the only Warriors to shoot 50% or best from the floor.
Stephen Curry went 4 for 15 from beyond the arc, and Chris Paul didn’t even knock down a single shot until the fourth quarter.
Klay Thompson was also far from his usual self at 33% shooting.
Then again, it’s just a matter of time before they shake off the rust and get back to their usual ways.
They got some good looks, they just couldn’t convert.
