The Dallas Cowboys have a big-enough sample size on Dak Prescott already.

They should’ve made up their minds about him by this time, and it seems like they’ve done just that.

The fact that they haven’t given him a contract extension speaks volumes.

And according to ESPN pundit Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo, you can’t blame them.

Talking on First Take, the controversial pundit stated that he didn’t think that Dak Prescott was a Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

He claimed that, with all teams having to abide by a salary cap, there was only so much the Cowboys could do for the sake of the team, and Prescott was by no means a top-tier quarterback.

Truth be told, it’s hard to argue with that statement.

On the one hand, Prescott is the best option the Cowboys have at this moment, but that doesn’t mean he’s the best option they will always have.

Paying $60 million a year to go one-and-done in the playoffs isn’t smart business, particularly if you’re not so high on the roster.

Jerry Jones is the only person to blame if this roster isn’t good enough, as he’s made all the decisions.

But if he doesn’t think they have what it takes to go the distance and wants to blow up the roster — as it’s starting to look like — then it doesn’t make any sense to spend that much money on a quarterback with a history of shortcomings and who could be vastly overpaid just for the state of the market.
