The Cleveland Browns have struggled to find consistency at the quarterback position this year.
Deshaun Watson has dealt with a fair share of injuries this season, causing the team to rely on backups.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson was initially thought to be a solid temporary solution, given his spectacular play in the preseason.
However, he is now injured, and while P.J. Walker has shown flashes, it doesn’t seem like the team wants to turn to him.
As Chris Simms has recently pointed out in a tweet, Joe Flacco played well in their loss to the Los Angeles Rams, a potential sign that he will be their starter moving forward.
Wild to be saying this in 2023, but watched the Browns-Rams film and Joe Flacco played real well. They needed him throwing to have any chance of moving the ball. Just one mistake – the INT, where he was late and couldn’t get everything behind it

As Simms mentioned, Flacco had just one bad mistake in that game, throwing an untimely interception.
Flacco finished the game with 254 passing yards and two touchdown passes.
While he might not be as dynamic of a player as Watson or present the level of rushing upside as Walker or Thompson-Robinson, Flacco’s career experience could propel him to meaningful minutes in the future.
The Browns are well within the playoff race, and they need someone to take the reins in this position to get them to the postseason.
Flacco isn’t the flashiest quarterback, but he has proven he can get the job done, especially in the playoffs.
The Browns have several difficult upcoming matchups, including games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans.
They will want to put their best foot forward in these games, and while it hasn’t been officially announced, fans will not be surprised if Flacco gets the nod for the rest of the year.
