Over the next few weeks, the Chicago Bears will be the talk of the NFL, with the team having a tough choice to make when it comes to the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
Although many believe this pick is a no-brainer as the consensus around the league is that USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams is easily the most talented player in the draft, Chicago already has a star at quarterback with Justin Fields, who the team has tried to build around the last couple of years.
All signs point to the Bears simply drafting Williams and eventually finding a trade partner for Fields, whether it is before or after the upcoming draft, but obviously, it would benefit the team to get it done before the draft with potential assets in this year’s draft.
According to Chris Simms of NBC Sports, the Bears shouldn’t waste any time once they are on the clock on April 25, as Williams is the obviously pick at No. 1 via The Dan Patrick Show.
“You run to the podium if you’re Chicago,” Simms said. “I feel as confident about this as I did about [Patrick] Mahomes, CJ Stroud, Lamar [Jackson], Josh Allen, Joe Burrow whatever. This is to me a slam dunk.”

Although Williams may be a “slam dunk” in Simms’ eyes, the Bears will almost certainly be getting trade calls with teams offering a massive amount of assets in order to land the USC superstar.
Ultimately, that might be too good to pass up on, but only time will tell if Chicago goes with Williams as their new franchise quarterback or decides to make another massive trade for the top pick in the draft.
