The Los Angeles Lakers have been busy throughout the NBA’s offseason.

Recently, they signed Christian Wood to a two-year deal, hoping he can be an impactful role player for their organization.

After this signing was made public, Wood expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s always been my dream to be a Laker.”

Wood is an eight-year NBA veteran, and has spent time with six different organizations throughout his career.

His best statistical season was the 2020-2021 campaign, averaging 21 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.

However, he has played well over the last three seasons as well, averaging 16.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists last year.

Wood put up these numbers while playing just 25.9 minutes per game, demonstrating his efficiency when on the floor.

The Lakers lost in the Western Conference Finals during the 2023 playoffs.

By adding Wood, they’re hoping a veteran player can make a difference, hoping to impart some wisdom to some of the team’s youngest players.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James are the two other veterans on the roster, but having someone like Wood around can’t hurt.

With youngsters like Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura slated to see more on-court time, the Lakers are entering a new era.

While the older players are still around, however, the Lakers seem to believe their title window is still open.

Will their offseason additions pay off in a big way, resulting in the Lakers reclaiming their throne as NBA Champions?
