The Boston Celtics recently got some terrible news.

Even though Kristaps Porzingis downplayed his injury, it now seems like he’s in serious danger of missing Game 3 at the very least.

And while the Celtics have gone 30-5 in 35 games without the Latvian big man, the timing of this injury couldn’t be any worse.

According to New Orleans Pelicans star CJ McCollum, it could be a catalyst and the reason why the Dallas Mavericks get the win tonight.

Talking on ESPN’s “Get Up,” the combo guard argued that Porzingis not being out there opens up the paint for the Mavs, adding that they should look to attack and wear Al Horford out.

Per McCollum, Kyrie Irving will have to be very aggressive in his drives to make the most of Porzingis’ absence.

Of course, people continue to wait for the moment Horford loses a step on defense and starts looking his age, and that hasn’t been the case thus far, so banking all hope on that might not be the wisest decision.

Then again, not having Porzingis looming around the rim on defense will allow the Mavericks to feed their athletic bigs with some lobs, which is something they were very successful at vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Mavericks have their backs against the wall and need to be at their best to get back in this series, and while the Celtics clearly know how to win without Porzingis, his potential absence could be huge.
