Over the last several weeks, the Los Angeles Clippers have been arguably the hottest team in the NBA, and many national pundits are falling head over heels in love with them once again.

They have a 30-15 record, which puts them in fourth place in the Western Conference, and they have won 22 of their last 27 games dating back to the start of December.

But one knock on them is the fact that they don’t have a ton of depth on their bench, and perhaps as a result, they reportedly are canvassing the trade market to see how much value Bones Hyland has, per insider Michael Scotto via NBACentral.

Hyland, a 6-foot-2 point guard, came to L.A. in a four-team trade last February, but in 18 games this season, he hasn’t been productive, as he’s shooting just 37.1 percent overall and 32.3 percent from 3-point range.

Prior to that trade, the 23-year-old had spent a season and change with the Denver Nuggets.

The Clippers have two solid backup guards in Russell Westbrook and Norman Powell, but they’re lacking in frontcourt depth, especially at both forward positions, and if they don’t address this issue, it could hurt them later on.

A few years ago, they boasted lots of depth at the wing and forward spots, but they traded much of that depth early this season to land James Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers.

The NBA trade deadline is February 8, and teams across the league are starting to gear up for what could be a furious finish ahead of that deadline.
