It sounds like it’s the end of the road for Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Clippers.
All signs point to Westbrook leaving the Clippers this summer and the team is apparently very adamant about cutting ties with him.
According to Shams Charania, per Andy Puente on Twitter, there is a chance that Westbrook will be waived by the Clippers if a trade is not found.
With that being said, the Denver Nuggets remain front-runners to signing the star player but if they can’t put a deal together, the Clippers will waive him.

This would be a startling moment for Westbrook, who was an in-demand player only a few years ago.
He still brings a lot to the table and could have many productive years in his future but the Clippers don’t want his $4 million contract next season, especially because they have several other players who could fill his role.
They are wanting to get something in return for Westbrook but if the Nuggets cannot produce a good package, they will simply cut ties with him and waive him entirely.
That doesn’t mean his NBA career would be over, of course, and he could find a new home with a different team.
But it would be a sign that the Clippers don’t believe he is worth the money he makes.
Westbrook averaged 11.1 points, 5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists for the Clippers last season, starting in 11 of his 68 games.
He still plays with intense energy and drive, even if his output on the court has diminished a bit over the last few years.
How serious are the Nuggets about acquiring Westbrook?
