Media coverage of the NBA playoffs can sometimes be a hot take culture with no memory of what happened prior to the most recent game.

One of the newest takes comes from Colin Cowherd, who after last night’s performance believes one star is becoming selfish.

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic had a rough showing in last night’s 100-96 Game 4 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, shooting 6-20 for 18 points and seven turnovers, including missing the first of two free throws that would have tied the game with 10 seconds left, and Cowherd chastised him for being invisible when he doesn’t have the ball in his hands, saying “he just screams selfish to me” because of this.

Cowherd said he wants Doncic to be part of the offense, while Luka wants to be the offense.

He brought up other stars from the past he wasn’t a huge fan of, such as Blake Griffin, Carmelo Anthony, and Derrick Rose, and compared him to his peers in Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokic who have a combined five championships and five MVPs due to being part of the offense without having to be the entire offense.

This is actually one of Cowherd’s most reasonable takes and he has a great point, as Luka controls the ball as much as anybody and doesn’t do much after he passes it.

It’s easy to make this criticism after a loss and with Doncic clearly playing through multiple injuries, but Cowherd isn’t alone in feeling this way.

We’ll see how Doncic and the Mavs rebound in Game 5.
