This year’s NBA Finals matchup is officially set.
The Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics will be facing off in a seven-game series to determine who will win the whole thing.
Many predicted the Celtics to represent the Eastern Conference in the Finals, but the Western Conference was viewed as a toss-up throughout the playoffs.
The Mavericks ultimately prevailed, and in a sense, are playing with house money.
Because not many people projected they would be in this position, the Mavericks don’t have a lot to prove, unlike the Celtics.
Colin Cowherd spoke about this in a recent podcast, as shared by The Volume on Twitter.

The Celtics have been very close to winning the Finals in recent years, but they’ve been unable to get over that final hurdle.
They have made it to the Finals twice in the past three years, and have appeared in the Eastern Conference Finals in six of the past eight seasons.
With this in mind, there is a lot of pressure and expectation for them to succeed, especially given their success during the regular season.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the two superstar talents from this team, and the Celtics will need them to keep playing well to take down the Mavericks.
If they struggle, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving could easily take these games over, making for a more difficult series for the Celtics to win down the stretch.
