After trading for star quarterback Matthew Stafford and everything coming together leading to a Super Bowl victory, the Los Angeles Rams took two steps back during the 2022 campaign and failed to even make the NFL playoffs in their title defense.

The Rams couldn’t get anything going last season and finished with an embarrassing record of 5-12, with little hope for the future.

Despite having one of the most disappointing title defenses in recent memory, Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports believes the Rams can bounce back in 2023.

“Take Reid and Mahomes out… Stafford and McVay are number two.”

One of Cowherd’s main points for the resurrection of the Rams in 2023 is a weak NFC West division and having a solid quarterback-head coach combination of Stafford and Sean McVay.

It’s true that it’s incredibly tough for NFL teams to be successful without a solid leader under center and a head coach that can put it all together on both sides of the football.

The Rams definitely have that in Stafford and McVay, but there are two areas of concern when it comes to these two.

McVay strongly considered walking away from coaching after winning the Super Bowl after receiving a huge offer from Amazon to be a broadcaster.

After the season the Rams had last year and a potentially bleak future ahead, McVay might start getting the itch again, which could ultimately lead to another disappointing year if his focus isn’t on coaching.

As for Stafford, the veteran quarterback has become an injury concern, and there’s no telling if his best years are behind him at 35 years old.

A lot of questions surround this team as McVay and Stafford head into another season filled with uncertainty.
