The New York Knicks gave up a whole lot of picks to get Mikal Bridges.
Bridges is a former No. 10 selection and one of the best defenders in the game.
However, he’s not a superstar, and most teams would only give up five first-round picks for a superstar.
Nonetheless, Colin Cowherd doesn’t think the Knicks made a mistake by any means with this trade.

He explained that the Brooklyn Nets had all the leverage because they knew the Knicks coveted and needed a guy like Bridges.
And while they may have given a pick or two more than they would’ve wanted to, you don’t know what you’re going to get in the NBA Draft, but you definitely know what you’re getting with Bridges.
He also used the Rudy Gobert trade as an example, stating that the Minnesota Timberwolves are a very good team, while the team that got all those draft picks isn’t.
Also, to be honest, chances are those picks are going to be in the middle or late in the first round, so it’s not like they’re giving up a sure thing anyway.
The Knicks are a championship-caliber team, or at least they’re trying to be one.
That means they ought to be as aggressive as they can to make the most of that window, and if that means overpaying to get over the top, then so be it.
It’s an exciting time to be a Knicks fan, and that hasn’t been the standard in a very long time.
