Over the past few years, the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams have dominated the NFC West, with the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals not having much of a chance to compete for the division title or a playoff spot.

Fortunately for Seattle, the team was able to have a resurgence of sorts during the 2022 NFL season, with veteran quarterback Geno Smith filling in for Russell Wilson, who was traded to the Denver Broncos. Smith played much better than anticipated and earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl.

However, the Seahawks couldn’t capitalize on that newfound success last season as they came up just short of returning to the playoffs for a second straight year, leading to longtime head coach Pete Carroll stepping away during the offseason.

As the Seahawks head into the post-Carroll era in Seattle, no one really knows what to expect from this team, even though they have arguably one of the most talented receiving corps in the league, led by DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Although all the talk in the NFC West is about the other three teams, Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports believes that the Seahawks should not be overlooked, via The Volume.

“I have this weird feeling that Seattle is going to shock people,” Cowherd said.

The one thing the Seahawks have going for them heading into the 2024 campaign is that they are currently flying under the radar without high expectations, which should help take the pressure off as they have everything to gain moving forward.

However, it remains to be seen if they can put it together on both sides of the ball and become a force to be reckoned with in the NFC.
