The Denver Broncos have named rookie Bo Nix their starting quarterback heading toward Week 1 of the regular season.
The No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is looking to guide the franchise back to the playoffs for the first time since Peyton Manning retired.
Colin Cowherd recently gave his take on the decision to name Nix the starter.
“It’s like naming [Tom] Brady the starter in New England. … He separated from excellent, talented backups,” Cowherd said on “The Herd.”

Cowherd also put an emphasis on how interesting it was that head coach Sean Payton decided to name Nix the starter this early. After all, the preseason isn’t even over yet.
However, with the way Nix has performed this training camp and in the first two preseason games, it is hard to argue with Payton’s decision.
Nix has completed 23 of 30 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
His passer rating of 116.7 also helped him move past veterans Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson on the depth chart.
Look for Nix to continue to make strides as the season moves along and Denver tries to build itself back into a contender.
It would be stunning to see the Broncos make the playoffs considering Nix is only a rookie and the rebuilding of the roster isn’t complete yet.
However, he did start an NCAA record 61 games at the college level in his time at both Oregon and Auburn.
So, perhaps his big-game experience and production can translate to the NFL quicker than most think.
Rest assured, Denver is one of the league’s most fascinating teams this season because of Nix.
