Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Chargers did what everyone anticipated they would do by making superstar quarterback Justin Herbert the highest-paid player at his position ahead of the recently signed Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts.
Although Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals is expected to reset the market sooner rather than later using Herbert’s new deal to add to his massive number, Herbert is currently sitting at the top of the heap of elite quarterbacks in the NFL in terms of money owed to him moving forward.
Even though Herbert has proven to be a very talented quarterback with a tremendous upside, there has been some debate about whether he’s worth the money and if he can finally have the playoff success some of his peers have, like Burrow, Hurts, and Patrick Mahomes.
On Thursday, Colin Cowherd, who was on vacation while Herbert was signed, reacted to the move by the Chargers and believes it is the right move, via The Herd with Colin Cowherd.

As Cowherd points out, Herbert hasn’t had the best personnel around him in order to get to the next level, and that has to be taken into account.
However, the pressure will be on now that he has inked a new deal and is set to get paid an enormous amount of money in the coming years, so he’s on the clock, and there’s no better time for him to prove himself than this upcoming season.
