Being a head coach in the NFL is one of the hardest jobs in the world, and the NFL truly does stand for “Not For Long” when it comes to longevity at the position, as one bad year is all it takes to crank up that hot seat.
Colin Cowherd recently said that one coach was “over his skis” when he got hired and doesn’t have much job security at this point of his career given the state of his team.
Cowherd spoke on his podcast recently about Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and mentioned that when Sirianni was hired, Cowherd spoke with a couple of NFL general managers and scouting directors who both agreed that Sirianni wasn’t ready yet.
“That opening press conference was a glimpse into, he was over his skis when he got the job,” Cowherd said.

Guest Nick Wright went as far as to say that Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts could go the same route as former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson and franchise quarterback Carson Wentz, meaning that both could be gone just three years after making it to the Super Bowl.
Comparing this current pairing to Pederson and Wentz is troubling, as Hurts has quickly become one of the league’s best at his position, though he did take a slight step back last season after exploding onto the scene in the Super Bowl year.
Sirianni was rumored to be on the hot seat all offseason after the Eagles stumbled down the stretch and got blown out in the first round of the playoffs, and one more lackluster season could be all it takes to get him out of town.
