A few years ago, the Denver Broncos looked like a storied franchise that was ready to get back to its winning ways, acquiring another proven Super Bowl-winning quarterback to help right the ship.
The addition of Russell Wilson seemed like a game-changer for the Broncos, as they had done the same thing with Peyton Manning late in his career, which resulted in Denver becoming one of the best offenses in the game’s history and eventually winning another title.
Unfortunately for Denver, the acquisition of Wilson resulted in the team taking two steps back rather than the expected leap forward, and the Broncos became one of the worst teams in the league with a quarterback who was clearly past his prime.
After two forgettable seasons in Denver, the Broncos cut ties with Wilson during the offseason, which allowed them to select a talented rookie replacement in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Ultimately, Denver was able to land Bo Nix out of the University of Oregon, one of a record six quarterbacks taken in the first round, and it seems as though the gamble is paying off, according to Colin Cowherd.

Obviously, it is very early in the process of developing Nix into a professional quarterback, and there have been many questions about whether he can be the real deal for the Broncos.
However, he’s played well in the preseason and seems to be the favorite to win the starting job over Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson, even though head coach Sean Payton has been reluctant to make the announcement.
