The Dallas Mavericks are heading into an NBA offseason filled with uncertainty after one of the most disappointing seasons, with Mark Cuban being the team’s owner.
Despite making a blockbuster trade for Kyrie Irving ahead of the NBA trade deadline, Luka Doncic and company couldn’t put it together and make a run at clinching a playoff spot in a relatively weak Western Conference.
With the season officially in the books for Dallas, the attention has turned to Doncic and what the future may hold for the superstar if he’ll ever win an NBA title and whether he’ll ultimately stay with the Mavericks long-term.
Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd recently gave his opinion on Doncic’s season and how he can see some comparisons to Carmelo Anthony in terms of a player that may not live up to expectations despite being extremely talented.

Although Anthony is considered one of the greatest players ever to play the game and was part of the NBA’s 75 greatest players last year, he was never able to win a championship during his time in the league.
Anthony hasn’t officially retired yet, even though he hasn’t been able to find a new team in the league after a short stint with the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, the writing is on the wall that his playing days are likely behind him.
Doncic is arguably a more talented player with a higher ceiling than Anthony, but when it comes to legacy, it could end up being a similar story with an uncertain future ahead.
