Two weeks ago, people were wondering whether Luka Doncic was the best player in the NBA.

Now, with the Dallas Mavericks down 0-3, people are questioning his legacy.

That’s just the way the NBA cycle goes for stars, and Doncic won’t be the exception to that rule.

That was evident after Game 3 when Colin Cowherd called him out and blamed him for the loss.

Talking to Jason Timpf on The Volume, Cowherd claimed that Luka’s legacy had taken a hit because of how atrocious he’s been defensively in the NBA Finals.

“He’s a better Carmelo Anthony…I don’t think he’s in great shape. I don’t think he’s easy to play with. I don’t think he’s committed on the defensive end”

He claimed that he’s a better Carmelo Anthony, adding that he’s not in good shape nor easy to play with and that he wasn’t committed on the defensive end of the floor.

Timpf added that, just like all superstars, Doncic had to go through these growing pains to figure out how to get over the hump and be at his best, adding that he needs to be in better shape.

Doncic had played very well on defense up to this point, but once again, he’s gassed out and exhausted late in games.

He gets off to hot starts and does most of his scoring early, and then he slows down.

Then again, no player is as good as it seems when he’s up, nor as bad as he looks when he’s down.

Doncic is still a superstar, and while he needs to put in a lot of work on his character and conditioning, we shouldn’t be talking legacy at 25 years old.
