Rumors have been circulating about former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick possibly returning to the league to join the staff of his former head coach Jim Harbaugh.

However, those rumors have been put to rest by Harbaugh himself.

“I love Colin, but he’s not going to be on the coaching staff, which is set for this year. And he’s not going to be playing on the roster either,” Harbaugh said, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The attention can now be put back on the field as the Chargers look to put together a successful 2024 season.

This bit of news was significant because of the success that both had together a decade ago with the San Francisco 49ers when Harbaugh was head coach and Kaepernick was his starting quarterback.

From 2011 to 2013, the 49ers made three consecutive NFC Championship Game appearances, along with a Super Bowl appearance in the 2012 season after Kaepernick took over as the starter.

The former Nevada star was a dual-threat quarterback who took the league by storm for a couple of seasons.

He had two seasons of more than 3,100 yards passing and more than 500 yards on the ground.

However, he was seemingly exiled from the NFL after he made a couple of political-based decisions both on and off the field that some teams and fans did not like.

Had he been brought back to the league to coach the Chargers with Harbaugh, it would have been major news.

Yet, it is all for naught as things in the NFL will go on for another year without Kaepernick.
