The Indianapolis Colts knew that drafting Anthony Richardson came with plenty of risks.
He was the most polarizing QB prospect in his class, not because of his talents but due to his inefficiency as a passer and his lack of experience.
Ironically, none of that seemed to be an issue early in the campaign, as Richardson balled out every single time he was on the gridiron.
However, his style of play was reckless, and the Colts failed to protect him in the pocket, which led to him missing more time than not.
Now, team owner Jim Irsay has officially confirmed the rumors of him missing the remainder of the season as he’ll undergo surgery to repair his injured shoulder.

Irsay stated that this is obviously a big blow for the team and Richardson, but he expects him to be fully recovered for next season.
They consulted with multiple specialists and determined that this would be the best for his long-term health, so it was the appropriate decision.
Richardson had already missed some time with a concussion before suffering this shoulder injury.
Durability and avoiding big hits will be points of emphasis for the Florida product.
He created havoc out of the backfield and made countless plays with his feet, and he has a cannon for an arm; it seems like there’s no throw big enough for him.
But staying healthy is a big part of the job, and the Colts will have to do a better job of keeping him safe going forward.
