The Indianapolis Colts couldn’t hold on to beat the Cleveland Browns, but they did manage to torch their elite defense, against all odds.
It was a surprising turn of events by the Colts, as they managed to put up 38 points with Gardner Minshew behind center, all despite star WR Michael Pittman Jr. having just two receptions.
Pittman made a huge play by scoring a 75-yard touchdown to give his team the lead late in the game, but he had only one catch before that highlight play.
That’s why he voiced his complaints about not being involved enough in the passing game, stating that he’s maybe not a big part of their offense (via Dov Kleiman).

This was the second time this season that he was targeted fewer than five times and got two or fewer receptions, so perhaps the complaints are warranted.
However, he’s been heavily involved in the team’s passing game since entering the league in 2020.
He’s a reliable playmaker and someone they’ve relied upon more often than not.
Colts HC Shane Steichen will have to make some tweaks to make sure that his best weapon in the passing game is happy, but growing pains should be expected when you adjust the entire playbook to a different quarterback.
Pittman’s next opportunity to make a name for himself and prove just why he needs to be targeted early and often will come next Sunday against the 3-4 New Orleans Saints.
