It’s the dawn of a new era for the Washington Commanders.

With Dan Quinn set to take over for Ron Rivera, the expectation is that he will do what his predecessor wasn’t able to accomplish, which is to instill a strong defensive identity in the nation’s capital.

With that in mind, the team made a move to reinforce the defensive side of the field on Sunday.

Per their own report, they announced the signing of DT Taylor Stallworth to their 90-man roster.

In a corresponding move, they had no choice but to move on from CB Christian Holmes.

Stallworth made an appearance for the Tennessee Titans last season.

He also played for the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 after spending the previous two campaigns with the Indianapolis Colts.

The 28-year-old started his career with a two-year stint with the New Orleans Saints after going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Thus far, he’s made 58 regular-season appearances, logging 52 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries, and he could provide some nice depth for Dan Quinn’s team.

Needless to say, he’ll face some steep competition for a spot.

The Commanders aren’t projected to be the most prominent name out of the NFC East Division next season, but under the right tutelage, it shouldn’t take long before they go back to, at the very least, making a push to make the playoffs.
